Commissions

Art Commissions:

These work a little bit differently than my jewelry commissions. There are a few more payment processes involved in this, because there are many more planning stages to this process than are involved with my jewelry commissions. I do up to 5 free planning sketches, based on the description you give me initially. Prices vary greatly based on whether you want color, black and white inking, or just pencil. Prices also vary based on the number of figures involved, background or no background, and other details. Also, please keep in mind the style and sort of things you see in my gallery, if you don't see something in my gallery, it's probably because I am not comfortable with my skills on the subject (i.e. traditional landscapes). You can always ask about these things, but there will be some things I am not able to do, or don't wish to do.

General Pricing for finished work is as follows (based on 9x12 size standards):

  • One figure (pencil/b&w/color): $10/$15/$35
  • Second figure, and every additional figure after that(pencil/b&w/color): $8/$10/$20
  • background (pencil/b&w/color): $8-$18/$10-$20/$20-$35
  • Extra details (i.e. elaborate costume details, elaborate weapons, elaborate background details such as ornate columns or other such elaborate architectural details) : $8-$50

Keep in mind that these are just generic pricing guidelines and are just to give a general idea of pricing. They are subject to change based on size, materials, subject matter and complexity.

When contacting me about commissions please include a detailed description of what you are looking for in the finished product. If you have any other drawings of the figures included, examples of a style you would like emulated, or pictures of the subject, outfits, backgrounds, etc that are relevant to the commission, please send those to me along with your description as it will make my process a lot more smooth and the end result much more to your liking. I can't read your mind, so any help you give me in coming up with what you want only aides you in the end.

Please be very open and descriptive of the color needs of the project you are contacting me about, or for that matter the lack thereof. This is the time to let me know whether you will want your finished piece in pencil, black and white inking, partial color, full color, etc. You may always change your mind before the final processes are begun.

Lastly, should you chose partial or full color and have a medium in mind, please let me know. Chalk pastels, for example, take far less time to apply well, and cost less to purchase than, again for example, watercolor, colored pencil, or acrylics. Should you not know what you are looking for, but have a price range or time frame in mind, let me know and I can tell you what mediums will logically fit in to that budget or time.

In summary, when contacting me, you should include in your email the following (as described above):

•  a detailed description of what you want in the final product

•  A thorough description or example of the color scheme you are expecting

•  Materials you are interested in

•  Price range you are looking for

•  Any other information you think is important, such as a date you will need the piece by if it is time sensitive

After receiving your email I will review your proposal and get back to you. I may have further info for you about your materials, design, time frame, or budget. Some of these things may need to be altered to turn this into a project I am capable of completing. If such changes are not possible, if I have other time constraints, or if I think that I am not the best person for you to be working with for this I will, unfortunately, have to decline your commission.

If I accept, I will make up to 5 free sets of planning sketches based on the project descriptions you give me, but I require a full payment up front, based on your description. sure that you are satisfied with prices and what we have agreed on before you send this. I accept all my transactions through PayPal, and will unfortunately not accept any other form of payment at this time. Please keep in mind that you can pay to a PayPal account with any major credit card (i.e. Visa, Mastercard, etc), so please don't let the method of payment be a deterring factor.

I will not start sketches until I have received this payment. It includes materials, shipping, and estimated time spent on work (I won't ever charge you more if I go over those estimated hours). This is fully refundable should my sketch sets never meet your expectations. A sketch set includes a sketch of the general layout of the piece, and then detail sketches of any things that are extremely important to the finished piece (i.e. detailed sketches of figures and objects). These guidelines are subject to change with the size and detail of the piece. After that point, and if I have still not come up with a sketch set that you are satisfied with I will unfortunately be required to decline further work on that project and will refund your payment.

If you okay the final sketches and tell me to go ahead with finished work this fee is no longer fully refundable. After the point at which I start the final processes on your piece you will only ever be able to receive a 50% refund. Should you, for some reason, be extremely dissatisfied with the final product you can receive a refund of 50% of your total purchase price.

Once the product is completed and you have verified based on pictures that it is to your liking, I will ship your piece. After you okay your piece for shipment your payment is no longer refundable. I ship via USPS Priority Mail, usually rolled in mailing tubes, as it is a more reliable and safe way to send flat objects. Art work will unroll and uncurl, but it never unfolds without a dent, or makes a flat trip without a dent. If you request insurance I will gladly add that to your shipping costs and buy insurance for your package when I ship it. The same goes for Certified Mail. I highly recommend paying for these services as I cannot be held responsible for items lost or damaged in transit. I know this seems harsh, but I am not the post office, and the fact that they are sometimes unreliable and rough with items is not my fault. I pack things well and label them clearly and know how hard it is to deal with things that have been lost by the post office.

If you have any questions about my guidelines, or need anything clarified, please email me. I'm more than willing to help you understand the process and be satisfied with your experience!
